Lane Patterson, former vice president for global network at Symantec, has moved on to the same position at Yahoo, according to a statement from the Open Networking User Group on Monday.

He is responsible for “overall architecture and DevOps” and reports to Yahoo co-founder David Filo, the statement said. He will also serve as Yahoo’s representation on the networking group’s board.

Mr. Patterson previously was VP of global network at cybersecurity firm Symantec, where, according to his LinkedIn profile, he developed “a network backbone and data center network platform for Symantec’s transformation to cloud services based on OpenStack and SDN.”

He also held a number of roles at data center giant Equinix, including CTO and chief network architect.
