As we prepare for our next preparation meeting for the Fall Conference, I wanted to specifically highlight the 3 use cases that we will be examining.  I’ve cut and pasted them below for convenience. 

The first thing that jumps out at me is whether we should be more general about the “actor.”  These all cite the IaaS Orchestrator as the actor, but I would think this would be equally as valuable to NetOps or Network Planning functions. 

Next, I think we can get much more detailed around security events.  For instance, are we looking at firewall log hits/denies, IDS/IPS output, etc.  In short, what is a security related event?  How do we define it and know it is happening?

This also might include capacity, oversubscription, and hardware/software lifecycle stage, etc. Another example might be an aggregated number or score that reflects the complexity of a network in terms of number of devices, links, capacity, oversubscription, security posture, hardware/software lifecycle stage, etc.
