James Younan works within UBS’s CTO organization in the IT Research and Development group. He currently runs an engineering lab where his role is the evaluation of strategic technologies spanning multiple disciplines including network, compute, and storage. His current focus is in enterprise utility or “cloud” space including system and network virtualization, monitoring, storage. His expertise spans advanced systems architecture, network architecture, network applications and development in a wide range of sectors including financial services, brokerage, hedge funds and telecoms. He has cutting-edge, hands-on experience in high-speed low-latency networking. He is also an expert in HPC environments used for financial modeling and advanced mathematical systems.
Prior to joining UBS, Jim worked as a Senior Architect/Engineer in the Research and Strategy team in Bank of America / Merrill Lynch where he was responsible for defining the firm’s internal cloud architecture, contributing to the firm’s overall storage strategy, and engineering the firm’s electronic trading platform. James also designed a branch architecture for Merrill’s International Private Client group including branches distributed throughout the world. He has also worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at JP Morgan Chase, Smith Barney, AT&T Wireless Services, ADP and Goldman Sachs.
James studied at DeVry Institute, Woodbridge, New Jersey.
