Harmen is currently Director and Global Head of Citi’s Management Tools organization. In this role, he is responsible for the
delivery of Citi IT infrastructure software deployment automation and monitoring, leveraging the agile principles of DevOps and infrastructure-as-code. Together with his team, Harmen is currently focused on a number transformational projects bridging the gap between application development and IT infrastructure operations, covering Openshift and Kubernetes monitoring, software deployment automation, and use of search analytics for real-time reporting and alerting workflow automation. Prior to his current role, Harmen led the solution architecture for Citi’s internal cloud and was the technology lead for emerging networking and storage technologies. He also acts as technical advisor to Citi Technology Investment Banking, Equity Research, and CitiVentures. Harmen has over 20 years of experience in the enterprise and carrier industry, covering IT management, engineering, and product management.
Prior to Citi, Harmen worked at Cisco Systems where he was a senior manager, leading the product management team responsible for Cisco’s Service Provider software strategy and technology roadmap. Together with his team, he covered a wide range of technologies supporting carrier network transport and services supported by the various software product lines offered by Cisco.
Before Cisco, Harmen worked at AT&T where he was a district manager leading the team responsible for network management and operations planning for AT&T’s global business services network infrastructure, covering monitoring and provisioning automation of AT&T’s IP-enabled Frame Relay offering.
Harmen has an MBA in Economics and Finance from Stern NYU and an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Twente University in the Netherlands. He is currently based in New York City.
