Dr. Paul Mockapetris is a computer scientist and Internet pioneer, who, together with Jon Postel, invented the Internet Domain Name System (DNS).

His contributions to the world of Internet is unparalleled. Apart from the DNS, he worked on distributed systems and LAN technology that preceded the commercial Ethernet and Token Ring designs during his time at UC Irvine. He also worked at Farsight Security and Nominum, Inc. to name a few. He currently works as the Chief Scientist at ThreatSTOP, Inc. 

He received his BS in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his PhD in Information and Computer Science from UC Irvine.
