Network Observability and Big Data Analytics

A network’s condition can be represented by a series of measurable metrics and data points, distilling the real time or historic network state and behavior into a mathematical model of analytics, patterns, and relationships.

Today’s hybrid networks require such real-time views and actionable insights into the network condition.  To construct and make use of such a data model, the network observability solution requires robust discovery and documenting capabilities.

Architecting ROBO Security in Cisco SD-WAN

As SD-WAN, Cloud and SaaS roll out across the globe, enterprise WANs are fundamentally changing.  Application flows are going directly from branches to the cloud, without stopping at the enterprise data center. This bypass is a necessity for performance as applications move to the cloud, and the pattern change is altering how enterprises deliver secure experiences. The IP edge pushes closer and closer to the branch itself.  

While remote offices and branch offices are often grouped together as one domain (ROBO) with similar needs, they are quite different. Businesses owner have complete control and visibility over their branch infrastructure, while remote locations offer little.

Given these changes and challenges, how can IT network and security teams ensure consistency in security policy and application, while maintaining ROBO security in the face of network pattern evolution? Infrastructure as Code for Cloud Network Automation

As network infrastructure moves toward cloud networking, network automation has become a core component of infrastructure as code. However, like common network underlay vendors, these cloud providers all speak different modeling languages. Most enterprise organizations leverage more than one cloud provider for either partial or complete network traffic, which means automating across these disparate offerings is riddled with challenges due to interoperability issues. These challenges inhibit the ability for organizations to capitalize on and realize the benefits of their shift toward a modern approach to network automation and orchestration. 

Itential, a multi-domain network automation solution provider, will present a PoC for the ONUG Orchestration and Automation Working Group that instantiates cloud networks following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.  The automation will include Itential’s Cloud Services for templating and configuration linting as well as integrations to ServiceNow, GitHub, Terraform, and NetBox as part of a zero-touch automated process.

The automated process will include the below high-level steps:

Addressing the Unique Issues of Network Complexity at Scale

The amount of data available from IT systems today is both encouraging and daunting. The combination of streaming telemetry data, actively generated network path data, and visibility into third-party networks provides crucial insights into the current state of the network. Implementing Security within the SD-WAN Fabric

SD-WAN, as a networking construct, focuses on the delivery of content from one location to another with minimal hardware at the edge. Implementing security, however, becomes problematic when considering that it becomes difficult to enforce policy at the edge using classical SD-WAN architectures. In this session, we will cover a discussion of the SD-WAN frameworks and how the implementation of regional hubs and global interconnects affects the enforcement of security policy, both with respect to the internet breakout and site-to-site packet paths.

Automate & Orchestrate Application Centric Network and Security Services to Enable DevSecOps in a Hybrid Environment

Enterprises have a hybrid environment which requires automation & orchestration of application services in a multi-cloud deployment setup.

Expanding Your Cloud Edge

There’s a lot of great information available about moving from legacy infrastructure to the cloud—how a company with legacy systems can take advantage of advancements in on-demand infrastructure represented by public cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and so on.
