SYDNEY, Oct. 29, 2014 – Silver Peak today announced that it has joined the Open Networking User Group (ONUG) and is a sponsor of the ONUG Fall 2014 event in New York City, October 28-29.
ONUG is a user-driven community comprised of IT executives that are leveraging the power of their engineering and procurement to influence the pace and deployment of open networking solutions.
IT leaders and ONUG board members are driving forward with working groups to address the top 3 use cases that came out of the ONUG Spring 2014 event. Software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) is among the top three use cases identified by the group and most likely to be included in an RFI or RFQ in the next 12 months.
Silver Peak joins the SD-WAN working group as a recognised leader in wide area networking, and will provide guidance on the tactical and strategic requirements that can help guide next-generation WAN implementation and efficiency in the branch.
“The uptake of SaaS and IaaS access services is driving a re-think of wide area networking and how you network the branch,” said David Hughes, CEO of Silver Peak. “We are excited to be working with our peers at ONUG to outline a set of new design and operational requirements that will help enterprises simplify and optimize their branch office WAN deployments.”
Silver Peak recently unveiled Unity, a virtual WAN fabric that unifies the enterprise network with the public cloud. This groundbreaking SD-WAN overlay correlates information about cloud services and Internet “weather” to intelligently route traffic over a secure, optimal path. By keeping cloud traffic on the Unity fabric, IT gains the ability to monitor and control connectivity to the cloud while ensuring consistent performance for any applications, including SaaS.
