ONUG Collaborates With Vendors to Deliver True Open Infrastructure and Software-Defined Solutions
February 19, 2015 – Boston – The Open Networking User Group (ONUG) Board has selected Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA) as its official testing partner for ONUG 2015 and beyond. Ixia will provide staging, lab resources, equipment, and support for any ONUG 2015 demonstrator wishing to test their solution against ONUG Working Group use case requirements or stage a Proof of Concept (PoC) demonstration of an ONUG Working Group use case. Ixia’s solutions help validate network performance and security resilience so that enterprise decision makers can make sound network investments. ONUG Spring 2015 will be hosted May 13-14 in New York City at Columbia’s Alfred Lerner Hall.
“As an early champion of software designed networks, Ixia was one of the first companies to develop testing solutions for OpenFlow and NFV. Our award winning solutions validate, secure, and optimize virtual and physical networks and data centers at all stages of the network lifecycle so that operators can verify application performance and security resilience,” said Bethany Mayer, President and CEO of Ixia. “This partnership opportunity with ONUG to facilitate the staging and demonstration of ONUG Use Case PoCs further highlights our commitment to virtualized networking solutions.”
“ONUG started with a vision to give IT business leaders a collective voice to transform networking and, with the inclusion of the Working Groups, has evolved into a user-led community driving the development of new multi-vendor, interoperability PoC demonstrations, ” said Nick Lippis, Chairman and Co-Founder of ONUG. “At Columbia, with the assistance of Ixia, we will focus on demonstrating vendor proof points of ONUG working group use cases to assist the ONUG community in their deployment plans. 2015 will be a critical year for the deployment of open infrastructure solutions and these PoC demonstrations take us one step closer to truly transforming the network.”
At ONUG Fall 2014, the three ONUG Working Groups – focused on SD-WAN, NSV, and Network Overlays – released white papersdetailing use case requirements. The ONUG community is now urging vendors to use those white papers as guidelines to deliver open and interoperable networking solutions. Ixia will provide its application performance and security resilience solutions along with all necessary support for vendors to stage PoCs at Ixia’s iSimCity lab ahead of the upcoming ONUG Spring event. These demonstrations will give enterprise executives the hard data needed to make well-founded networking decisions. In addition to the three Working Groups, three new groups focused on Network State Collection, Traffic Monitoring/Visibility, and Common Management Tools were formed out of ONUG Fall 2014. These new groups will be developing their own sets of requirements in the coming months, which will be presented at ONUG Spring 2015 and which vendors can reference as they look to develop additional PoCs.
At ONUG Spring 2015, attendees will also have an opportunity to hear from the following companies about how they will address the new open networking market requirements and to influence the product directions of companies including: Avi Networks, Avni Networks, Big Switch Networks, Brocade, Cisco, CloudGenix, F5 Networks, Glue Networks, Gigamon, Ixia, HP, NEC, Nuage Networks, Pluribus Networks, Riverbed, Silver Peak, vArmour, VeloCloud, Versa Networks, Viptela, and VMware.
