ONUG Launches Meetup Program to Ensure Continued Open Networking Dialogue Year Round

Partners with Work-Bench for Inaugural Event October 1 in NYC

September 10, 2015 – Boston – The Open Networking User Group (ONUG) today announced the launch of the new ONUG Meetup program. In addition to its semi-annual conferences, throughout the year ONUG will conduct smaller user-centered meetings across the country focused on driving open software defined cloud infrastructure. The informal meetups will provide year round opportunities for the existing ONUG Community to engage with new IT leaders and continue the discussion on topics introduced at the semi-annual conferences.

The first meetup will be hosted in partnership with Work-Bench, a leading NYC-based enterprise venture capital fund, at their Union Square office. The discussion will center on linking networking infrastructure into cloud orchestration tools.

“Our community has requested more insights and information on the evolving state of networking,” said Nick Lippis, Chairman and Co-Founder of ONUG. “By conducting more frequent, local discussions, we can work more closely with our rapidly expanding community to further influence the pace and deployment of open software defined infrastructure solutions.”

Jonathan Lehr, Managing Director of Work-Bench, added that “partnering with ONUG on this Meetup program aligns with our mission to be the home for enterprise tech in New York and at the forefront of conversations related to the changing IT environments at large corporations.”

ONUG Meetups will be organized by members of the user community and attended by members of the ONUG Board. As the meetups progress, they will begin to integrate the ONUG Working Groups to facilitate even higher levels of engagement on the use cases of most importance to the ONUG IT Community. Ultimately, the goal of the new ONUG Meetup program is to help connect end users transitioning to open cloud infrastructure and to amplify the voice of the collective IT community to ensure the needs of the user are being met.

ONUG Meetups are free to attend and participants will have the opportunity to take part in discussions on major themes and issues in open networking. For more information on upcoming meetups schedule, join our ONUG Meetup group, and RSVP to attend the October 1st ONUG Meetup.

ONUG also hosts two major conferences per year where use cases are defined and members vote to establish a prioritized list of early adopter, open networking projects that communicate propensity to buy and budget development. The next conference will take place at New York University in New York City, November 3-5, 2015. Registration for ONUG Fall 2015 is now open.
