Ihab Tarazi joined Equinix in 2013 and serves as EVP & Chief Technology Officer, leading the technology and innovation function, driving the company’s cloud initiatives and engagement with the technology industry. He is responsible for the next-generation data center and interconnection architecture supporting open-source innovation, and new edge technologies. Ihab was instrumental in the development of Equinix Cloud Exchange (ECX) and integrating the platform with leading cloud service providers. Ihab is recognized as an industry leader on cloud computing, next-generation network architecture, IoT, submarine cables, and wireless technologies.
Ihab serves on the Board of Directors for NeoPhotonics (NASDAQ: NPTN) and is a member of the Open Compute Project (OCP), serving as co-chair of the Open Optical Packet Transport (OOPT) working group in the Telecom Infra Project (TIP).
He joined Equinix from Verizon, where he was Vice President of Enterprise Network Services, responsible for product management, strategy, technology and development for Verizon network products. During his tenure at Verizon, Ihab led engineering and technology functions for Verizon’s global IP network and fiber-to-the home (FIOS). Ihab drove many industry-first innovations and global platform expansion.
Previously, Ihab served as VP of Technology at MCI, as Chairman of the Board for Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), Chairman of the Board for the Southern Cross Submarine Cable System and a board member of the Australia Japan Submarine Cable System.
Ihab earned a master’s degree in telecommunications management from Southern Methodist University and also earned a B.S. in electrical engineering and telecommunications from the University of Maryland.
