Prominent Speakers Address the Industry Challenges, Benefits, and Requirements to Take Advantage of Digital Transformation
March 2, 2017 – Boston – The Open Networking User Group (ONUG) today announced speakers for ONUG Spring 2017, hosted by Gap at San Francisco’s Mission Bay Conference Center on April 25th and 26th. Digital transformation will act as the backdrop of the ONUG Spring keynotes and panel discussions, as they address changing IT organization and culture, and the strategic adaptations necessary to remain competitive in the software-defined, cloud-based era.
To kick off the conference on April 25th, attendees will hear from Gap Inc. SVP/CTO, Rathi Murthy, as she provides an overview on how Gap Inc. has capitalized on the current software-defined and cloud era IT cycle to address Gap Inc.’s business initiatives and imperatives. The audience will then hear from Truman Boyes, Bloomberg CTO Office Head of Networks, about how Bloomberg has implemented a production-level highly critical hybrid cloud infrastructure to deliver business agility and value while mitigating vendor lock-in. Additionally, Suneet Nandwani, Senior Director of Cloud Infrastructure and Platforms at eBay will address the need to retool the enterprise for cloud-based, software-defined infrastructure to support solution integration and lifecycle operations. Keynotes will focus on the intersection between workload and infrastructure as well as the new IT organizational model, culture, and tools necessary to link application developers and IT operations to stay on the cutting edge of business value creation.
The morning of April 26th will feature a first of its kind discussion between the ONUG Open Hybrid Cloud Working Group and executives from top cloud service providers. Members of the working group will begin by outlining the requirements necessary to overcome obstacles in moving enterprise workload to the public cloud. Subsequently, Adrian Cockcroft, VP of Cloud Architecture Strategy at Amazon, John Considine, GM of Cloud Infrastructure Services at IBM, and Ulrich Homann, Distinguished Architect at Microsoft, will take the stage, individually, to discuss how their solutions address the user requirements. IT leaders will then review what the audience has learned, answer additional questions from the community, and provide recommendations regarding how best to proceed given remaining gaps. This back and forth between the cloud providers and user communities will facilitate an open and constructive dialogue to assist large enterprises in the move to open hybrid cloud. Additionally, ONUG has partnered with a prestigious third party analyst firm to conduct a TCO study based on enterprises within the ONUG IT Community, the results of which will be presented exclusively at ONUG Spring.
“Digital transformation is one of the most influential change agents in the current state of the IT industry,” said Nick Lippis, Co-Chairman and Co-Founder of ONUG. “ONUG Spring will address the topics of most interest to innovative IT leaders with questions around architecting their own infrastructure to take advantage of the changing industry and deliver digital transformation value. The spring agenda encourages even more interaction and engagement from the community to further spark dialogue and effectuate change.”
